Philippine Airlines has unveiled its new FurPAL service, an enhanced in-cabin pet travel option that allows small dogs to accompany their owners onboard select domestic flights. The initiative is expected to benefit many Filipino travellers based in the UAE, especially those flying home from Dubai who wish to continue their journey within the Philippines with their pets.
The FurPAL service permits small dogs weighing up to 10 kilograms, including their carrier, to travel safely inside the cabin. Pets must remain in an airline-approved soft carrier that fits under the seat, ensuring they stay secure and comfortable throughout the flight.
Currently available on key leisure routes such as Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao, the service has been launched to meet the rising demand from pet owners who prefer seamless, pet-friendly travel once they arrive in the Philippines. The Philippine Airlines noted that more domestic routes may be added as the program expands.
To qualify for the FurPAL service, passengers must present essential documents, including a valid veterinary health certificate, updated anti-rabies vaccination record, and a permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry. The airline also reminds owners that pets cannot be sedated for air travel, as this may pose health risks during the flight.
For many Filipino expatriates in Dubai, the introduction of FurPAL is particularly welcome. The UAE has a strong pet-loving community, and many travellers now seek smoother, animal-friendly travel options when connecting through Manila to their final domestic destinations. With this move, Philippine Airlines positions itself as a more accommodating, pet-friendly airline in the region.
Travelers can book the service by selecting a FurPAL-eligible flight on the Philippine Airlines website and adding the option through the Travel Boost section during reservation. Since only a limited number of pets are allowed per flight, early booking is advised.
Philippine Airlines’ launch of the FurPAL service reinforces its commitment to improving the travel experience and responding to the evolving needs of modern passengers. By allowing small dogs to fly in-cabin, the airline is creating a more inclusive and convenient journey for pet owners traveling to and within the Philippines.
