New Emiri Decree Issued to Seize, Confine, & Dispose of Strays in Umm Al Quwain

UAE: Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, the Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, has issued an Emiri Decree to manage stray animals in the emirate. According to Emiri Decree No. 9 of 2024, stray animals will be captured and held in designated areas by the Umm Al Quwain Municipality.

If no one claims the animal within seven days, it will be considered ownerless, and the municipality has the right to take further action for both public safety and the well-being of the animals.

The municipality also has the power to handle the stray animals as needed and follow proper procedures to grant certain employees the authority to act as judicial officers. This allows them to enforce the regulations and address violations in line with the emirate’s laws.

Any previous rules that go against this decree will be cancelled. The decree is effective immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette.
