Marriott Bonvoy has introduced its new Pawssible Journey program in Greater China, expanding its regional hospitality offering to include pet-friendly travel options. The initiative will start rolling out from November 2025 across selected Marriott properties.
The program is based on three pillars: Paw Stay, Paw Play, and Paw Mart. At the Moxy Shanghai Putuo, Paw Stay rooms have been designed with dedicated areas for pets, including bedding, feeding stations, and accessories for cats and dogs. Le Méridien Xi’an Chanba will open Paw Play spaces for social activities and pet-friendly tea service, while Aloft Taipei Beitou will feature a Paw Mart corner with curated travel items for owners.
The company is also launching the Paw Passport, a personalized profile that records each pet’s details and stay history. Pets can earn Silver, Gold, and Platinum Paw Status depending on the number of nights stayed, unlocking a range of practical amenities across participating hotels. Additional features such as pet-friendly maps. “Wall of Paws” displays, and strollers will also be offered at select locations.
Betty Tian, Managing Vice President, Customer Group, Greater China at Marriott International, said the initiative reflects evolving travel habits and the growing number of guests who travel with pets. She added that the company plans to extend more inclusive services as customer preferences continue to change.
China’s pet industry has grown to more than RMB 300 billion which is around USD 41 billion, according to market research, with pet travel emerging as one of its fastest-growing segments. Industry observers note that international hotel brands are increasingly introducing pet-friendly options in response to this demand. Details on participating hotels and related policies will be published on the Marriott Bonvoy website when the program launches in November 2025.
