Dubai Launches AI Powered ‘Ehsan Stations’ to Feed Stray Animals

Dubai Municipality has launched AI powered Ehsan Stations to feed stray animals in parks, introducing smart feeding technology that supports animal welfare and improves stray cat management across the city.

The new initiative by Dubai Municipality introduces smart feeding stations for stray cats, designed to provide controlled food distribution while maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. The project combines artificial intelligence, animal welfare, and smart city technology to manage stray animal feeding in a more organised way.

During the initial phase, authorities will install 12 AI powered feeding stations across Dubai. Ten of the units will be placed in public parks, while two stations will be located at facilities managed by Dubai Holding.

The smart devices can detect animal presence and release food automatically. The system also records data about animal activity, allowing officials to track stray cat movement and better understand population patterns in different areas.

Authorities say the goal is to replace scattered feeding practices with designated stations that provide a cleaner and safer solution. Random food placement in parks can sometimes create hygiene concerns and attract pests.

The initiative also supports Dubai’s wider stray animal management strategy, which already includes programs that involve trapping, sterilising, vaccinating, and returning stray cats to their original locations to control population growth.

Officials will monitor how the Ehsan Stations perform during the trial period. If the results are successful, more AI feeding stations for stray animals may be installed in other parts of the city.
